In the second installment of this survey of mallet-played instruments, we?ll explore the Gamelan orchestras of Bali and Java, as well as Lou Harrison?s compositions for Americanized Gamelan. We will also hear the Balafon (gourd xylophone) of West Africa in a variety of settings.
