John Cage's 4'33"

In 1952 John Cage gave us four minutes and thirty three seconds of being present. This has not only been one of the most controversial pieces of music but also the most important. I will explore the history of the piece and artistic interpretations of it since. It will be a great way to feature several artists in our library as well as the history of experimental music, something that KFJC listeners and DJs value greatly. I will play 4'33" by Cage in our library, I will talk about Cage's intentions, the philosophy behind the work, the reception of the piece, and play recordings and interpretations by other artists.
