E-Bow Music

Wednesday, Mayhem 4 10:00pm — Thursday, Mayhem 5 1:00am

Wednesday Mayhem 4 10PM-1AM
Hosted by Kai Sync

An EBow is a hand-held string resonator for guitars, resulting in the guitar strings resonance, the effect is reminiscent of using a bow on a string even if the resonator could be used with other techniques to produce very non-guitar like sounds. One of the most common examples of a known Ebow song is David Bowie's Heroes, even if there are plenty of other artists and bands that have used EBows to create very different kind of music: Bill Nelson, Opeth, Radiohead, Adrian Belew and Robert Fripp, Richard Barone. This tool has also been used in contemporary art music such as John Cage in his harp piece A Postcard from Heaven, Karlheinz Esslr in Sequitur VIII, David First and others. This special will play various bands, artists and composers where the E-Bow plays an instrumental part in the music soundscape.
