Actuel has released a treasure trove of free jazz classics over the years an it's time to present as many of them as possible back-to-back. Archie Shepp, Sun Ra, Don Cherry, Anthony Braxton, Grachan Moncur, Alan Silva and Art Ensemble of Chicago have all recorded their best works on Actuel. What Blue Note is to popular jazz, Actuel is to free jazz. Thurston Moore and Byron Coley provide testimony to Actuel's contributions when they released a JazzActuel boxset in 2000. Four hours is not enough time to appropriately highlight all of the BYG/Actuel library but we'll make due with what time we have - tune in and free you assssss!
