The Tzadik record label was founded by composer/producer/saxophonist/multi-instrumentalist John Zorn in 1995, and showcases avant-garde and experimental music. Tzadik is Hebrew for 'righteous one', a title that perhaps fittingly describes the label?s approach to releases. The Tzadik catalog contains an amazing variety of sounds, instrumentation, and approaches to the production of contemporary music. What is experimental music? There may be no definitive answer, but Righteous Ones will lend some perspective on how Tzadik has shaped the landscape of the genre over that past two decades.
