KFJC broadcasts a special that originally aired on June 7, 2015 (see playlist).These days Brooklyn's Daptone Label is the source for the best Soul, Funk, Gospel and Afrobeat records in the United States. Daptone's releases channel the spirits of bygone powerhouses like Stax and Motown. We'll showcase the work of Sharon Jones and the Dap-Kings, Charles Bradley & Menahan Street Band, The Budos Band, The Sugarman 3 and Antibalas, as well as some of the newer up and coming artists on Daptone. You'll also hear music from their former label Desco Records and their sublabels: Dunham Records and Ever-Soul Records.
