From his teen years playing banjo at Disneyland and LA folk clubs and hootenannys, to his foray into So-Cal Psychedelia with his electro-acoustic band Kaleidoscope, to world-music roots-rock with his band El Rayo-X, to his ethno-music treks to the far corners of the globe, super string-man David Lindley has forged his reputation as a talented and unique multi-instrumentalist. His work as a studio musician ranges from backing for Graham Nash, Linda Ronstadt, Ben Harper, Dolly Parton, Warren Zevon, Ry Cooder, Emmylou Harris and dozens more. You may not realize it, but you have undoubtedly heard him play. He seared the well-known Pedal Steel guitar solo on Jackson Browne's, Running on Empty into the nation's consciousness, as well as crafting the haunting violin intro to the Youngbloods' Darkness, Darkness.
