KFJC rebroadcasts a special that originally aired on Mayhem 14, 2003 (see playlist). Doo Wop and Rhythm and Blues music were important influences on Frank Zappa and his music, even though many scholars choose to mention this in a footnote and make much of the classical music influences. The Memories of El Monte Road Mayhem special is all about the Southern California Doo Wop and Rhythm and Blues music which influenced Frank Zappa. It features lots of music and interviews with key players in the scene. This special is being rebroadcast as a tribute to Skokiaan Guy/Bruce Whitaker. Memories of El Monte Road is the only Month of Mayhem special that was turned into a book: Zappa Doo Wop by Bruce Whitaker a/k/a Skokiaan Guy.
