Female Takeover After-Party: The Life & Music of Kirsty MacColl

Wednesday, March 15 6:00am — 10:00am

Hosted by Zero Gravity
As part of the "Female Takeover After-Party," KFJC rebroadcasts the special "What They Don't Know: The Life & Music of Kirsty MacColl," which originally aired on Mayhem 25, 2006 (see playlist). Most people only know her as Shane MacGowan's foul-mouthed foil on the Pogues' "Fairytale of New York," but Kirsty MacColl gained a reputation among peers, critics and ardent fans as Great Britain's finest female songwriter and singer, from her first single in 1979 up to her last album and untimely and tragic death in 2000. Zero Gravity surveys her life and career in a 4-hour Month of Mayhem special.
