Female Takeover After-Party: Bombay Jayashri Ramnath

Thursday, April 6 6:00am — 10:00am

Hosted by Good Karma
The Sangeetha Kalanidhi (literally 'treasure of the art of music') is one of Carnatic music's most prestigious awards. This year, the Madras Music Academy bestowed the title on Bombay Jayashri Ramnath. She has been performing since 1982, and is known for her blend of traditional and modern elements of Indian classical music. In addition, she was the second-ever Indian singer to be nominated for an Oscar. This show will feature Carnatic compositions (including selections from some of her recent Bay Area concerts in 2013 and 2018), fusion performances with North Indian classical and world musicians, light classical songs, and film music.  It's airing as part of KFJC's extended "Female Takeover After-Party."
