For over twenty years, Bay Area based sound artist Joe Colley (aka Crawl Unit) has investigated audio phenomena via field recordings and electronics, installations and collaborations. Join abacus finch and Max Level as they bring Joe in to the studio to explore his work, past and present. Expect some live DJ mix action courtesy of Joe. (see playlist).

Loretta Lynn

Born on April 14, 1932 in Butcher Hollow, Kentucky, Loretta is 89 years young and still going strong. Her first recording was 'I'm A Honky Tonk Girl' in 1960, and her latest album, 'Still Woman Enough' came out in March, 2021. Join me for 4 hours of Loretta.

Apollo Records

In the 90s, Belgium's R&S Records was arguably the largest and most influential electronic music label on the planet. Their ambient sublabel, Apollo Records, released a slew of stunning records before the label folded (temporarily) in 2000. R&S relaunched in 2006, and the Apollo ambient sublabel sprang to life as well. Part 1 of the special will examine Apollo's pre-2000 output Parts 2 & 3 will look at Apollo post-revival.

Scott Walker

Noel Scott Engel, better known by his stage name Scott Walker, was an American born British singer songwriter, composer and record producer. Walker was known for his baritone voice and an unorthodox career path which took him from 1960s teen pop icon to 21st century avant-garde musician. The Guardian said of Walker imagine Andy Williams reinventing himself as Stockhausen. Walker was described by the BBC as one of the most enigmatic and influential figures in rock history. Listen in as we play Scott Walker from his days in the Walker Brothers to his final album with Sunn O))).
