In 2001 Rhino Records decided to issue a sequel to their Nuggets: Original Artyfacts from the First Psychedelic Era, 1965–1968 compilation. Rather than taking the easy way out and offering another round of American garage rockers they compiled four discs of hidden treasures from non-American garage and psych bands. Most of the tracks we will listen to are from British bands, but there are also selections from a pre-fame Guess Who, New Zealand act the Smoke, the Brazilian psychedelia of Os Mutantes, the exceptional Merseybeat stylings of Uruguay's Los Shakers, and the extraordinary Peruvian combo We All Together, among other non-Brit acts.

Reprising the first of the Archive Shows (originally recorded on 5/23/1980), this program examines the corporate relationships between German and American firms that were instrumental in the rise of the Third Reich. Miscellaneous Archive Show M11—“Uncle Sam and the Swastika: U.S Industrial Support for Nazi Germany” contains insights that are even more relevant and more frightening than they were in 1980. As the 25th anniversary of the original broadcast passed, Mr. Emory re-broadcast the show, with editorial comment before and after its playing. In particular, Mr. Emory noted the hauntingly contemporary insights that author James Stewart Martin imparted at the conclusion of his landmark text All Honorable Men. Mr. Martin warned that the American component of the trans-Atlantic fraternity that had funded and armed Hitler might choose to bring fascism to America “as a calm judgment of business necessity.”

Of particular significance is the fact that the Golden Lily loot and the decisive political and economic factors stemming from the material covered in Gold Warriors, the other books by Sterling and Peggy Seagrave, and Ms. Chang’s The Rape of Nanking, have enormous and ongoing significance.
